Bollywood actress Somy Ali: There’s no one as kind and compassionate as Mithunda
While she worked with multiple actors during her stint in Bollywood, actress Somy Ali says that Mithun Chakraborty was her favourite. Somy, who now runs a US-based NGO called No More Tears, shared a small scene from her film Yaar Gaddar with Mithun, on Instagram. She wrote about how she loved working with him.
“The most movies I did was with my fav Mithunda. I remember this scene in particular as he had to slap me and I was terrified about getting the timing right. He was the one actor who was always willing to rehearse a million times to put me at ease. There’s no one as kind and compassionate as Mithunda,” she wrote.
The actress added that it was an honour to work with him. “For someone who grew up watching him and my mom being a huge fan of his, it was no short of an honor and a privilege to have done so many movies with him. An icon, a legend, a huge star, but not once did he show a speck of arrogance while we worked together. He was my favorite co-star and a mentor. I miss him tremendously to date,” she says.
Somy appeared in several Bollywood films in the 1990s, such as Anth, and Aao Pyaar Karen. Though her film career was brief, she gained attention for her on-screen presence and off-screen headlines.
