Film Bazaar and Film Independent Announce Collaboration for an Exclusive Writers’ Workshop

Film Bazaar and Film Independent Announce Exciting Collaboration for an Exclusive Writers’ Workshop Film Bazaar, South Asia’s largest film market held annually during the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), is thrilled to announce a partnership with Film Independent’s Global Media Makers, to bring an exclusive 4-day Episodic Storytelling Workshop led by U.S. and Indian industry professionals at the Film Bazaar, Marriott Goa, from November 19th to 22nd.

Global Media Makers (GMM) is an in-depth, intensive artist development exchange program that produces residencies for international mid-career writers, directors and producers in film and television. It is a cultural diplomacy initiative of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and implemented by Film Independent, the non-profit organization that produces the Film Independent Spirit Awards.

Led by U.S. TV writer and producer Marlana Hope and Indian filmmaker Bikas Mishra (a GMM Fellow), the Global Media Makers workshop aims to empower writers with the skills and insights needed to create compelling episodic narratives that resonate with audiences globally. Participants will engage in hands-on sessions that demystify the writing process, from conceptualization to pitching, while fostering collaboration among creatives from diverse backgrounds.

In today’s rapidly evolving media landscape, when the demand for quality content is at an all-time high, this workshop is an invaluable opportunity for both aspiring and established writers to gain insights from experienced professionals, engage in meaningful discussions, and build connections that can lead to future collaborations. Participants will leave with practical knowledge, resources, and a clearer understanding of the international television landscape.

The 4-day workshop will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of several distinctive elements of the TV & digital industry and the tools for developing material.

“Film Bazaar serves as a crucial platform for filmmakers to connect, collaborate, and showcase their work,” said Prithul Kumar, MD NFDC. “We are excited to partner with Film Independent to bring this unique workshop to our participants, helping them enhance their skills and expand their networks.”
