We Are Becoming Less Human" – Saanand Verma Reflects on Kindness and Humanity on World Kindness Day

On World Kindness Day celebrated on 13th November, actor Saanand Verma opens up about his concerns over the decreasing number of kind people in today’s world. He attributes this shift to a growing detachment from basic human values. “We are becoming less human,” Verma states, pointing to the rise of artificial intelligence and the superficiality dominating society. “Kindness is a basic human value, and we are compromising on that. We are turning into machines,” he adds, lamenting how people are increasingly prioritizing artificial behaviors like selfies and fake interactions over genuine human connection.

For Verma, kindness is a value deeply rooted in his upbringing. “I’ve learned humanity, kindness, and simplicity from my parents,” he shares. This understanding of kindness has shaped both his personal and professional life, helping him navigate the pressures of fame while staying grounded. Reflecting on the importance of humility, he states, “The biggest problem for a successful person is arrogance. I have earned everything I have today with hard work, my mother's blessings, and God's grace. Arrogance is meaningless to me.”

Saanand emphasizes the significance of staying humble, no matter how successful one becomes. “Arrogance is ridiculous,” he declares, stressing that it is essential to remain grounded and true to one’s roots. His journey to success has been driven by dedication, and he is committed to maintaining his authenticity. “I value my position from the bottom of my heart. It’s an immensely valued position I have earned over time,” he says, showcasing his deep appreciation for his accomplishments.

Despite the growing trend of self-centeredness, Verma believes that small acts of kindness still have a profound impact. “The natural beauty of humanity seems to be fading,” he observes, but encourages everyone to practice kindness in simple, often overlooked ways. A smile, a helping hand, or a kind word can make a big difference in countering the negativity in society.

In addition to his personal philosophy, Saanand’s role in Vijay 69 holds significant meaning for him. Directed by Akshay Roy, the film stars the legendary Anupam Kher. Verma expresses immense gratitude for the opportunity to work with Kher, whom he considers one of the greatest actors of our time. “Working with Mr. Kher was an opportunity of a lifetime,” Verma says, underscoring the value of working alongside grounded and kind-hearted individuals.

This World Kindness Day, Saanand Verma’s reflections remind us that kindness begins with simple actions, and staying true to humanity is essential in a world increasingly dominated by artificiality.
