Writer and Filmmaker Abhishek Pathak: One of the biggest milestones in my career has been writing for CID and Aahat
Creative Director, Writer, and Filmmaker Abhishek Pathak has built a career spanning more than 14 years across television, OTT, and audio storytelling. Known for blending creativity with strong storytelling, he has worked on acclaimed projects across genres. He has developed shows for platforms like Amazon MX, Audible, ALTBalaji, &TV, and Star Bharat, while also writing and directing series such as Mauka-e-Vardaat, Crime Alert, Latkhors, among others. Reflecting on the defining moments of his career, he says, “One of the biggest milestones in my career has been writing for CID and Aahat. As a child, I grew up watching these iconic shows on television, never imagining that one day I would be a part of creating them.
To come to Mumbai with the dream of becoming a writer and then to write for Fireworks Productions under the legendary B.P. Singh Sir remains one of the most defining moments of my journey.” He adds, “Another landmark has been working with Ekta Kapoor. Having grown up watching her shows, getting the opportunity to pitch and narrate stories to her was surreal. These experiences not only validated my decision to enter this industry but also shaped me as a storyteller.” Sharing his body of work as a writer, he recalls, “I began my writing journey with Gutur Gu, India’s first silent comedy show on SAB TV.
From there, I went on to write for some of the most iconic and long-running shows on Indian television, including CID and Aahat.” Over the years, he has created for both TV and digital. “I have also contributed to several popular crime and drama series such as Supercops vs Supervillains (Life OK), Laut Aao Trisha, Savdhaan India, and Mauka-e-Vardaat for &TV, which I not only wrote but also helped develop as a unique 'How Dunnit' crime format.” Talking about his experiments in the OTT and audio space, he says, “In the digital space, I have developed and written projects such as Talab for ALTBalaji, and Latkhors, an upcoming web series which I conceptualized and directed.
I have also served as Creative Director and Additional writer on an upcoming Amazon MX Player series, contributing to both its development and storytelling.” His success also extended into audio storytelling. “While at Pratilipi Studios, I co-created Chakia Ki Daayan with Pakhi Kartik, a highly successful audio show with nearly 350 episodes, which later got adapted into a TV series for Star Bharat.” Most recently, he ventured into short films. “I have written Naani Ki Kahaani, a heartfelt short film produced under the banner of Kahani Company, soon to be released on YouTube.” Looking ahead, Abhishek is ready to embrace films. “Having worked across multiple storytelling mediums, my journey began as a writer in television, where I penned stories for popular shows like CID and Aahat, and even directed an episodic show called Mauka-e-Vaardat. As I evolved, I transitioned into the audio platform, creating a show called 'Chakkiya Ki Daayan,' which taught me a lot. Later, I moved into the OTT space, working with ALT Balaji on several projects and later with Amazon MX Player as a Creative Director. Now, having explored these different platforms, my next big step is to dive into films. 'Naani Ki Kahani' marks the beginning of this new journey, and I’m excited to explore the cinematic world.”
