Producer Sunjoy Waddhwa's Salakaar prepares to hit JioHotstar, the star cast calls it challenging yet fulfilling

Salakaar, a spy thriller, which is produced by Sunjoy Waddhwa’s Sphereorigins and Mahir Films, features Naveen Kasturia and Mouni Roy and is loosely based on real events. It is directed by Faruk Kabir. The teaser, which was released recently, has already garnered a lot of eyeballs and features Naveen as a spy, who is sent on a mission to Pakistan. He meets the top officials to gather information and is later shown fighting, shooting, and being tortured. It also briefly reveals Mouni draped in a saree and wearing big glasses as though trying to capture something secret on the foreign land.
Naveen shared that the experience of playing a spy was great and added, “It was a unique experience to play a character with such intelligence and awareness while dealing with the real threat of being an undercover agent in a foreign country. Overall, a single mishap could result in capture or worse. However, it was my first time doing action, and it was quite challenging yet exciting.”
Mouni too called her character unlike anything she has played before. She said, “The narrative’s intensity and emotional layers demanded that I push myself to new heights as an artist. What struck me most was the script’s ability to weave political suspense with very personal, intimate moments. Every scene required careful attention to nuance and depth, which made the experience deeply rewarding.” Salakaar is all set to premiere on JioHotstar on August 8.
